Ask Barb Tobias Chappell what makes for the most effective communications and event orchestration and she’ll tell you two things: Consistent, across-the-board messaging and attention to the details. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Barb knows what it takes to craft and implement successful programs and events.

As a communications consultant, Barb has worked with a variety of clients from high technology to education, providing them with a broad spectrum of services. Her expertise ranges from spearheading marketing communications platforms and the hiring of outside agencies to the creation of webinars, podcasts and other sales and marketing support tools. Clients have included Varsidee, CSSD, Veloxy, PerceptiMed, APTARE, Bedrock Capital Management, Audible Magic, Harry Wong Publications, Sony, Novell, Anthem Electronics and Ungermann-Bass.

A skillfully orchestrated event can cement key business relationships, increase employee morale, support sales functions, launch a new product, raise much-needed funds for non-profits and generate feelings of goodwill. Barb combines high-level strategy with a nuts-and-bolts approach to handling events and communications programs, which has resulted in unprecedented results and repeat engagements from both high-technology companies and non-profit organizations.

Within the non-profit sector, Barb has held executive positions on the boards of Congregation Shir Hadash and Yavneh Day School, where she also served as president of the board. She is a past member of the School Site Council, Los Gatos High School, where she served two years as secretary, and one as president during which she led the task force to revise its bylaws. She has also served on the LGHS TIP committee for the improvement of its theater.

A graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, Barb has received numerous community and industry awards and has been recognized by the Public Relations Society of America for both writing and communications campaign programs.
